Community for Positive Aging (CfPA) is seeking a full-time Resident Services Specialist to support residents in low-income housing. The Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) at Alder House and Dawson Park is primarily focused on enhancing the quality of life for residents by facilitating access to essential services, programs, and community engagement opportunities. This role acts as a vital liaison between residents, property management, CfPA, and community-based partners, with a focus on supporting housing stability, building community connections, and fostering independence among residents. Key responsibilities include coordinating events, providing information and referral services, and supporting residents in developing healthy life skills. This role does not provide direct case management. Additionally this position dedicates 2 hours weekly to Dawson Park Apartments on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Monday and 4 hours on the 4th during the food pantry and open office hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

Weekly Work Expectations: Alder House (40 hours onsite.)

Resident Engagement and Support:

  • Build trust and establish professional relationships with residents, prioritizing their well-being and integration into the community.

  • Welcome new residents, provide orientations, share community resources, and assist non-PSH (Permanent Supportive Housing) residents in understanding property management and available services.

  • Facilitate a resident-centered approach that promotes independence and encourages healthy activities in both group and individual settings.

  • Act as an advocate for non-PSH residents, collaborating with community partners to address specific needs.

  • Mediate conflicts between non-PSH residents and property management, providing support related to housing stability.

  • Respond to resident crises using appropriate de-escalation and coaching techniques and reach out to PSH Staff if one of their clients is involved.

Program Development and Coordination:

  • Coordinate a minimum of six events per month focused on areas such as Creativity & Arts, Lifelong Learning, Health & Wellness, Community Building, and Food Access.

  • Collaborate with community partners, PSH case managers, and CfPA’s Community Health Navigators to implement impactful programming.

  • Increase attendance and resident participation in both on-site and CfPA programs.

  • Planning of special events, including holiday meals, workshops, and activities at Alder House and Dawson Park.

  • Provide input on programmatic improvements based on resident feedback and participation data.

  • Work with the Volunteer Program Manager to identify volunteer needs to support ERS programming.

Information, Referral, and Resident Advocacy:

  • Maintain regular office hours for drop-in Information & Referral services for residents.

  • Educate non-PSH residents on lease-related questions and coordinate with Property Management to clarify housing policies.

  • Proactively assist non-PSH residents in addressing issues that may affect housing stability, referring them to relevant resources and services as needed.

Data, Reporting, and Communications:

  • Create and distribute a monthly calendar of events, office hours, and property information to all building residents. Abide by the calendar that was developed and notify residents, staff and property manager of any changes in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate on a monthly newsletter, including updates on community resources, property information, and housing stability tips.

  • Submit regular data reports on attendance, program outcomes, and resident participation according to CfPA’s guidelines.

  • Assist in developing and collecting annual resident surveys and support the PSH Program Supervisor in report preparation.

  • Track and analyze participation data to enhance engagement and program impact.

Coordination with Property Management:

  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with Property Management and the PSH provider to discuss resident needs and collaborate on programming.

  • Communicate resident needs related to housing stability, especially for those with mental or physical disabilities affecting their ability to address lease violations.

Food Security and Community Support:

  • Participate in the transportation, setup, and distribution of goods for food security programs and on-site food pantries.

  • Organize and coordinate food access programs that align with resident needs.

Permanent Supportive Housing Specific Support:

  • Responsible for bi-weekly dorm pack ordering and distribution to PSH clients.

  • Work together while respecting professional boundaries to ensure residents have access to both community engagement opportunities and individualized support:

At Dawson Park (2 hours weekly to Dawson Park Apartments on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Monday and 4 hours on the 4th Monday of the month during the food pantry and open office hours ):

  • Support and empower residents through activities, education, advocacy, and referrals.

  • Collaborate with building management to address individual resident concerns and provide educational and community-building opportunities for residents of all ages.

  • Offer residents referrals for core services focused on housing stability, immediate health and safety issues, and crisis interventions.

  • Provide supplemental referrals for health and wellness, creativity, conflict resolution, community engagement, education, employment, stress reduction, and overall quality of life.

  • Maintain ongoing follow-up with residents to encourage engagement with case management.

  • Deliver and distribute monthly ERS newsletter for Dawson Park

  • Oversee the monthly food pantry and hold office hours on the 4th Monday of the month.


What You Bring

Required Skills & Qualities

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to engage respectfully with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, and low-income communities.

  • Experience in resident services, housing, social services, or community-based programming.

  • Organized, self-directed, and comfortable balancing administrative work with on-the-ground engagement.

  • Ability to maintain healthy boundaries while offering compassionate support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with older adults  and low-income housing.

  • Bilingual or multilingual skills.

  • Knowledge of local social service systems and community resources.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and documentation platforms.



Pay: $27.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
