Social Connection Peer Support
Provide socialization and a friendly voice and/or mailed notes to seniors and neighbors living in affordable housing in the Portland area through one-on-one friendly correspondence.
Reassurance Calls
A recurring (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly) phone call program aimed at building rapport and fostering connection through storytelling, active listening, and shared experiences.Through these ongoing conversations, volunteers also play a critical role in identifying and connecting their peers with CfPA programs, services, and community resources they may not be aware of, helping to increase accessibility and awareness to meet basic and vital human needs.
Letters of Care
A written correspondence initiative that delivers thoughtful, uplifting messages to brighten recipients' days and remind them they are cared for. Volunteers typically write 1-2 letters (usually in the form of greeting cards) to each senior they’re paired with per month. Responses to these letters are not mandatory, which often results in one-way communication.
Duties & Activities:
Attend or view a virtual training session
Get matched with at least one individual participant or resident to provide friendly check-in calls and/or write letters weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
Keep CfPA staff informed of any concerns from your paired participant(s).
