Transportation That Connects Our Community & Drives Change with support from the PGE Drive Change Fund, made possible by Oregon DEQ’s Clean Fuels Program.

In 2025, the Community for Positive Aging reached an important milestone and one that quietly transformed how we show up for older adults across our community. With support from the PGE Drive Change Fund, made possible by Oregon DEQ’s Clean Fuels Program, CfPA added three electric vehicles to our fleet, expanding our ability to reach seniors who face isolation, mobility challenges, and barriers to essential services.

For many of the older adults we serve, transportation is the difference between staying connected and being left behind. A missed ride can mean a missed medical appointment, an empty fridge, or another day spent alone. These vehicles are a commitment to equity, access, and dignity for the people who rely on us.

The new fleet includes an electric passenger van, a cargo van, and a Mustang Mach-E, each playing a role in strengthening our programs. Together, they support food delivery to housing sites and community pantries, provide rides to medical appointments and grocery stores, and make it easier for older adults to participate in Center activities that foster connection and belonging. They also allow our team to respond more quickly during extreme weather events and other emergencies, when reliable transportation can be critical.

This investment also advances CfPA’s commitment to environmental responsibility and environmental justice. Low-income seniors are often the most impacted by both climate change and transportation barriers. By transitioning to electric vehicles, we are reducing pollution in the neighborhoods where our clients live while lowering long-term operating costs and ensuring that more resources can be directed toward services rather than fuel.

Most importantly, these vehicles help older adults maintain independence. When transportation is dependable, people can keep medical appointments, access nutritious food, stay socially connected, and remain in their homes longer. These everyday moments add up to better health, stronger community ties, and a higher quality of life.

Thanks to the PGE Drive Change Fund, made possible by Oregon DEQ’s Clean Fuels Program, CfPA is not just moving people and goods. We are driving a cleaner, more connected future.
