Joel Nelson is a case manager and Peer Support Specialist with a passion for person-centered, trauma-informed care. He provides comprehensive case management to older adults and individuals experiencing homelessness in low-barrier shelter settings, supporting participants in achieving housing stability, accessing vital benefits and healthcare resources, and advocating for their dignity and self-determination. Grounded in housing-first and harm-reduction principles, Joel brings a strengths-based approach to service delivery and deep expertise in crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and meaningful client advocacy. With a background in program leadership at Ethos Music Center and a Master of Fine Arts from Mills College, Joel is committed to advancing equitable access to supportive services and building collaborative partnerships that center the voices and goals of the older adults and communities he serves.
