Pedro Oliveira Jr. (he/him)
Pedro was born and raised in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. He moved to the US in his mid-teens, originally intending to pursue a career as a classical pianist. Instead, he fell in love with journalism and spent a decade writing for publications in the US and abroad. He’s a recipient of the Posse Foundation full-tuition leadership scholarship and the Arthur F. Burns Fellowship for international journalism.
Yet it wasn’t until moving to Oregon in 2017 that he truly found his calling in social services. Since then, Pedro has worked supporting participants through transitional and permanent housing programs across the Portland metro area. His experience includes serving individuals and families navigating chronic homelessness, disability and housing insecurity – spanning everything from direct case management to project supervision.
In his free time, Pedro enjoys jamming on his piano, writing short stories and watching bad movies.
